Groove Builder

Groove Builder is an open-source (Apache-2.0) platform from AGL for building and deploying internal systems and ERP-style applications. Built on the Appsmith foundation, it is self-hosted and flexible: work in a traditional IDE or drag and drop widgets on a canvas to design UI, connect databases and APIs as datasources, and express business logic with queries and JavaScript. Groove Builder is designed to improve collaboration and delivery between developers and front-line business operators.

AGL uses Groove Builder for TMS dashboards and line-of-business apps — without shipping a separate custom frontend for every workflow.

Why Groove Builder

1. Connect data — Integrate databases, REST APIs, CSV uploads, Google Sheets, SMTP, and more. Bring internal and external data together in a unified platform.
2. Build UI — Compose screens from a rich library of component primitives (tables, forms, charts, and more).
3. Write logic — Queries and JS Objects run in the editor with the groove global framework object.
4. Ship safely — Self-host on your infrastructure. Optional Groove Copilot proposes changes that require your approval before they apply.

Editions and base apps

The platform (builder, widgets, datasources, admin) is shared. Editions package different starter applications for a line of business. The Groove platform ships with core TMS services: Manager Console (manager-level administration for users, locations, clients, and more), Exports (the TMS system), and Export Client Portal (a client portal). Platform docs cover the builder; edition-specific app docs ship when those base apps are ready.
